The Watling Street Business Association (WSBA) was set up in March 2009

We have 2 main aims:

- To promote the business of our members

- To improve the infrastructure which has sadly been neglected for many years.

  • Facilitating networking amongst members as within just 5 minutes walk of each business there is a wealth of untapped business opportunity.
  • Using posters showing all the member businesses to sell to each other and also advertise to each others' customers or clients. The website would publicise the work of Association and also all of the member businesses who have signed up for it. This would be especially attractive to those with no previous internet presence or those with their own website can be linked.
  • Special promotions, raffle and other events will follow.

To fulfil our second main aim:

  • Making contact with Medway Council concerning the duration, location and availability of car parking, improving the road surface, pavements. lighting and street furniture, re-asses the need and location of the cycle lanes and improving the appearance by christmas decorations and street flower boxes.
  • Forming link with the press, local councilors, fire & rescue, local policing and local schools and other groups active in the area.
  • Organising a small customer survey to asses how the users of Watling Street see the businesses and any improvements they feel would be an advantage.

Our other aims are:

A) To promote and encourage local businesses in the environs of Watling Street, Gillingham

B) To raise the profile and be pro-active on all issues relating to the businesses in the environs of Watling Street and their customers

C) To provide the united voice of members to other bodies on relevant local issues

D) To work in partnership with the businesses, customer and residents for the benefit of all

E) Keep members up to date with future developments that may affect their businesses

F) To promote and encourage interaction, support and networking between businesses in the environs of Watling Street

G) To liaise with Medway Council and any other relevant body in the furtherance of these aims and objectives.
